Clogher Head and the Sleeping Giant at sunset

Wonderful location for the camera as Clogher Strand is a storm beach, open to the storms and high seas of the North Atlantic Ocean. From October to November and February to March, the sun sets within the headlands encompassing the beach, dropping into the ocean or behind the island of the Sleeping Giant, providing opportunities for outstanding sunsets and fiery afterglows as the fading sunlight seeps through more of the earths atmosphere. In calm conditions the colourful reflections on the wet sands supply an additional bounty of colour that greets the avid photographer. This fabulous afterglow was captured following sunset over Inishtooskert or the Sleeping Giant and Clogher Head, during October 2019.
