Racing tide at sunset on Smerwick Harbour, Dingle, Co. Kerry
Smerwick Harbour is located on the north west edge of the Dingle Peninsula and best known for the siege and massacre at Dún An Óir in 1580, as well as the storm surges that come in from the North Atlantic Ocean. With accessible shoreline on all sides, the eight miles of coastline provide superb material for sunrise and sunset photography, as the terrain alternates from rugged rocky cliffs, rocky and sandy foreshore to long stretches of sandy beaches.
Captured during December 2016, with the incoming tide racing over the rocky shore near Feohanagh, looking south west across Smerwick Harbour towards the Three Sisters and Sybil Head, just as the sun was going down.
